Did You Remember Boating Safety Poster...

The Baker Marine Group wants all of our slip holders and guests to remember to be safe this boating season. The New Jersey State Police - Marine Services Bureau has developed a "Did You Remember?" Equipment Checklist for boaters. The poster can be downloaded by click on this link to the PDF of Poster . The checklist includes items such as check the weather before heading out and wear your life jackets while under way.

There are several fishing tournaments including the The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh of the Jersey Shore Third Annual Fluke Tournament this Saturday August 21, 2010 and the Jersey Coast Shark Anglers Poker Run and Raft-Up on August 28 2010. As stated on the NJ Clean Marina website, as a boater,you are well aware of the care your vessel requires. By following the recommendations listed here,you can minimize the environmental impacts of routine cleaning and maintenance necessary to keep your boat safe,reliable and attractive. Your choice of products and activities can negatively impact water quality and aquatic life. For example, paint chips from antifouling paints contain heavy metals. When the paint chips accidentally end up in the water they may be consumed by shellfish, worms, and other bottom-dwelling creatures and pass up the food chain to fish, birds, and humans.

New Jersey's Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Program

The New Jersey Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program currently consists of one program, the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Coastal Workshop to be held September 10-12, 2010, in Cape May.

"Becoming an Outdoors-Woman" (BOW) Coastal Workshop
September 10-12, 2010
at The Golden Inn in Avalon, NJ

Staff of the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife and dedicated volunteers will host a weekend workshop devoted to learning about wildlife and outdoor skills on the Jersey coast. Participants will choose 4 topics from a diverse list of classes, and spend 3½ hours for each of the 4 hands-on learning sessions.

Although oriented towards women, this workshop is open to anyone who is at least 18 years of age.

BMG Fisherman's Report Features Boating & Fishing Pics & Storie...

Each of the Baker Marine Group marinas has its own Fisherman's Report forum where members can post stories and pictures. The forum is free to use by anyone. We welcome all photos, pictures and stories related to fishing, boating, yachting, the baker marine group marinas, etc.

Please feel free to post: pictures of your boats, pictures of fish caught, stories about fishing, boatig or yachting or any other related boating and fishing stories. Also feel free to post any fishing and boating news, safety tips, fishing tips, etc.

Here's a story about a potential record breaking shark caught in California - Angler's 1,098-pound mako shark a potential California record

New Jersey is also know for its shark fishing. June through August tend to be the best times for shark fishing in NJ depending on water temperatures. Boaters can use several of the Baker Marine Group marinas in NJ to access shark fishing waters.
